About Wisdom Consulting

We help GREAT leaders with an outside PERSPECTIVE.

Our approach is relational. Connect a trusted advisor to your leadership journey, one who is committed to solving your problems and won’t quit until you get results. WE ARE ALL IN.

Our process has been trench-tested and brings real change. The first stage ends with PERSPECTIVE, a leader’s accurate view of the past, present, and what the future looks like if nothing changes. The second stage ends with a PLAN, tailored to your unique ministry context. The final stage is all about PROGRESS as you fulfill your mission.

Our clients are exceptional. We work with leaders who have GREAT DREAMS because they know God has GREAT PLANS.

I’ve served as a …

high school ministry intern, high school ministry pastor, student ministry pastor, family ministry pastor, associate pastor, pastor of regional campuses, pastor of ministry (CLASS 301, SHAPE), pastor of discipleship, pastoral management team (Saddleback), teaching pastor (not at Saddleback!), and executive pastor.

I’m married to Misha! We met on a church mission trip to Mexico. We’ve been married for 30 years, and we have five kids—all boys! Two of them are in college, and three are in high school. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with degrees in Biblical Studies and Psychology. To give back to the community, I’m a head coach for youth football. For fun, I’m an average woodworker and below average gamer.

In the summer before eighth grade, I started taking God seriously and felt a clear call to ministry.

One morning, I woke up with q simple question: “What am I going to devote my life to?” I was friends with “powerful” kids in junior high: one friend was the most popular, another was the toughest, and the third was the best athlete. Even at a young age, it was easy to see that none of these were worth a lifelong commitment.

Here’s the conclusion that I discovered: since my soul would last forever, it made sense that I should devote my life to improving it. In this, I felt God say, “Get to know me and help others do the same.”

This was the beginning of my spiritual journey with Jesus.

I had strong convictions and equally strong questions. I was (and still am!) skeptical by nature—I’m a challenger and question everything. I needed to know why I wasn’t an atheist, Mormon, Jehovah witness, or even a person who put my trust in crystals. I investigated Islam and Judaism. I needed to know why they didn’t see Jesus the same way I did. After decades of questions, Jesus has never let me down.

I started my spiritual journey because it made sense … I’ve continued because it’s the truth.

How can I help?

After three decades of experience, I’ve seen a lot!

I know what a healthy organization looks like (unfortunately, I’ve also seen the other side). I know what it takes to build a great ministry from scratch and how to turn something around.

What will it take to advance your mission? I’d love to talk about an opportunity or challenge that you are facing.
